Okay guys and gals! The anticipation ballon has popped! Yesterday was the moment of truth! I couldn't wait any longer! I finally got a chance to test the BT-101 kit by Breakthrough Clean Technologies. It took me about 3 months to reach to this point and the anticipation was crazy. I can truly say I could not wait to try this product! Having thoughts like, is this product really this damn good? Seriously? What's the hype all about?! Well, I will tell you what it's all about! I have to say I am very impressed with the BreakThrough cleaning system! It was the blissful experience everyone has been talking about. I am still excited a day after using this stuff!
First, the benefits of the long wait was, being able to get my Glock 19 super dirty, dirty as reasonably possible in preparation to use the BT-101 Cleaning Kit. Nothing too extreme, this is my favorite everyday carry you know! So lots of range time, NovoArms defensive pistol course, which meant exposure to the elements, dirt, and humidity! This moment also gave me a chance to experience the reliability of a Glock. My Glock 19 performed great during this stay from getting cleaned, a true testament to Glock Perfection.

After breaking down the firearm and spraying the Breakthrough Clean Solvent on 3 of 4 main parts of the firearm. I noticed the light fine mist being release from the bottle reminiscent of that light mist of water being spray over the fresh produce in the grocery store. Ahhh Yes! It felt that refreshing! That's when the Breakthrough blissful experience begins! Just a short 1 min. wait to give the solvent a chance to work its magic. During this wait you have time to notice that there is no weird odor or mess! After the minute, it was time to go to town on those gun parts with the brush, which was conveniently included in the BT-101 kit. Scrubbing away like my life depended on it, I realized it was not necessary to work so hard because the solvent did all the work for me. You merely have to lightly sweep the brush across the sprayed parts a few times and then you're ready for the Breakthrough green microfiber cloth.

At this point all the grit and dirt comes off with ease. The above photo only tells half the story. It was amazing to see a unhealthy amount of dirt and grit come off with ease using the soft neon lime green microfiber cloth. Excellent choice of color, you really get to see how much grit was accumulated over time. You will also notice, after wiping off the parts, particularly the slide and frame that it will be bone dry and smudge free. The look and feel will be reminiscent of when you first bought your firearm. Truly a feel good moment at this point. Your fingerprints, the only oil to be visible on the frame and slide after handling them with your bare hands after the wipe the solvent and residue off.
Time to close attention to the barrel and bore using the Avid Universal Cleaning Kit. In the beginning when spraying the solvent on the 4 main parts, I did spray a little down the bore. I ran the metallic 9mm bore brush through a few times. Shortly thereafter, the cloth patches was ran through, to swab down the inside of barrel to get rid of any grit or build up the solvent attacked and loosened from the bore. This process has to be done over and over until the patches come out clean! To may amazement I was able to achieve this with using only 3 patches!! Using other cleaners I have never be able to get the bore clean as a whistle! I was truly amazed!
Now for the finishing touches of oil! This part is very critical for many reasons, the main reasons are functionality and protection. The solvent, while it attacks the dirt and grit it also strips every bit of oil from the parts it has come in contact with so you must re-lubricate those parts to reduce friction. Extreme friction is your worst enemy, so remember to lubricate. You must also try not to over lubricate your firearm to avoid malfunctions and safety issue. With the Breakthrough Oil a little goes a very long way so its real easy to avoid over lubrication.
Take look at the video below for an example how to add oil to your firearm after the solvent and wipe down process.
After adding the appropriate amount of that heavenly lubricant, you simply put your firearm together again. Now for the protection part! Just add a drop to your finger tip and glide it over the outside of the slide and frame. This thin layer of the Breakthrough oil will halt any corrosion or rust due to salt from your skin or the elements. I will tell you, after adding that thin layer of oil to the exterior of my firearm it was reanimated in appearance with an added zing to it.
I have to say I really enjoyed using the BT-101 Cleaning Kit by Breakthrough Clean Technologies. Using this product for the 1st I was very impressed with the outcome. It truly lived up to the hype and then some. I look forward to using it again to experience that Breakthrough bliss each and every time. This blog series was a great experience for me.
